A host of area fans, friends, family members and students turned out Aug. 17 to watch the 2019 Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Volleyball team face former members in the annual Grizzly Volleyball Alumni Game at the West Plains Civic Center.

"What a fun day with our Grizzly Volleyball alumni and their families," Head Coach Paula Wiedemann said.

The current team and the alumni team played three sets. The alumni got in a few licks on their younger counterparts, but in the end, the current Grizzlies prevailed.

"We love the connection our alumni have with our team and others in the community," Wiedemann said. "There are a lot of laughs and stories to be shared, and it never gets old. It's one of our favorite events of the year!"

Alumni attending included Justina Begemann Setina and her daughters Kaylee and Izzy, Quanna Speake Hafer and her daughters Lucy and Violet Hafer, Shannon Washburn Frieling, current Strength and Conditioning Coach Keri Elrod, Renae Goller Smith, current Graduate Assistant Coach Susannah Kelley, current Assistant Coach Briana Walsh, Kaitlyn Raith, Danielle Parker Hull and son Marcus, Kari Tracy and Tabby Smith Hall.

Former Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Trish Knight also attended.

In addition to the scrimmage, fans were asked to join the team in some games between sets. They also enjoyed a free pizza party following the scrimmage.
